# How does Erewhon Revisited develop the theme of Family and Legacy?

> Erewhon Revisited by Samuel Butler

## Answer

Erewhon Revisited by Samuel Butler develops Family and Legacy across the chapters the companion marks for this theme.

The relationship between Higgs and his sons—both his English son and his Erewhonian son George—explores themes of paternity, inheritance, and the desire to leave a positive mark on one's children.

Higgs discovers he has a son with Yram and strikes a bargain with him, grappling with paternity and his legacy as the Sunchild.

Higgs's painful encounter with his son George highlights themes of lost connection, paternal longing, and the unintended consequences of his past actions.

George discovers his true parentage and grapples with his identity as Higgs's son.
