El Filibusterismo · Question
Who is Sandoval in El Filibusterismo?
Answer
Sandoval is a peninsular student who mixes with Makaraig’s circle. He can orate about rights and progress; Rizal uses him to show how Spanish liberalism often stops at rhetoric when Filipino claims become concrete.
He matters in classroom guides because he is easy to quiz; he matters in the graph because he embodies failed enlightenment from the colonizer’s side — sympathy without structural rupture. Pair with Placido’s humiliation and Isagani’s sharper conscience.
