## Who they are

Dionysodorus works the room alongside Euthydemus, leaning in close with a face beaming with laughter to predict a boy's refutation before the boy has finished answering. Where his brother opens the exchange, Dionysodorus closes it, flipping the same question to produce the opposite conclusion and another round of applause. He matters because he shows how easily cleverness becomes cruelty, and because Socrates must untangle the pair's double act to keep Cleinias from being shamed out of philosophy.
