# Señor Torreon — Craig Kennedy Stories character guide

> Señor Torreon in Craig Kennedy Stories by Arthur B. Reeve.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Torreon, Manuel Torreon

**First appearance:** 0005-the-seismograph-adventure

## Snapshot

A South American whose presence turns a seismograph's trembling needle into evidence of human plotting rather than mere geology.

## Who they are

Torreon moves through the case as a foreign gentleman whose composure and connections make him difficult to read, at once guest and possible architect of the disturbance under investigation. His stake in the seismograph's readings gives him a reason to want certain tremors explained away, and Kennedy's instruments threaten to expose what diplomacy and manners conceal. He matters because he forces the young detective to test whether scientific measurement can outargue a man practiced in saying little.
