**First appearance:** 0012-the-steel-door

## Snapshot

An heiress stalked by typhoid that follows her from country estate to city apartment, certain the disease is aimed and not accidental.

## Who they are

Eveline Bisbee arrives at Kennedy's rooms trembling, having buried her guardian and watched servants fall ill one by one while she boils her own water and eats at a different hotel each night. Her fear sharpens into suspicion when she learns the new will strips her of a million dollars unless she bears children, leaving the estate to a trust controlled by the lawyer, James Denny. She is the case's human center: a woman whose terror is rational enough to demand science, and whose testimony opens the door to Kennedy's first great poisoning investigation.
