# How does Cornelli develop the theme of Nature and the Pastoral?

> Cornelli by Johanna Spyri

## Answer

Cornelli by Johanna Spyri develops Nature and the Pastoral across the chapters the companion marks for this theme.

The natural world of Iller-Stream—the roaring stream, beech woods, meadows, and garden—is portrayed as a source of joy, freedom, and healing, contrasting with the oppressive, confined life in the town garret.

The beauty of Iller-Stream's meadows, flowers, and garden is central to the children's joy and Cornelli's longing.
