# Hugh Sherry — Continental Op Stories character guide

> Hugh Sherry in Continental Op Stories by Dashiell Hammett.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Hugh Sherry, Sherry, VII Sherry, Hugh

**First appearance:** 0004-bodies-piled-up

## Snapshot

A well-dressed young man with fair hair and a Glenway apartment, he moves between Chinatown cellars and a college friend's parlor without explaining why.

## Who they are

Sherry surfaces in Lillian Shan's library as 'Jack,' a clean-cut presence she vouches for and the Op immediately distrusts. He's been seen leaving a cellar connected to Chang Li Ching's house, and the ex-convict Conyers visited his building the same afternoon. His easy manners and the two angles converging on him make him the knot the Op has to untie before the case will move.
