## Snapshot

An Aeduan noble who fears the sea less than he fears Caesar's summons, and who whispers revolt to every chief he can corner.

## Who they are

Dumnorix is an Aeduan of great influence, fond of change and power, whom Caesar resolves to keep close as a hostage before the British expedition. He begs to remain in Gaul, pleads divine admonitions, and when refused, begins tampering with the Gallic chiefs—warning that Caesar means to strip Gaul of its nobility. His restless ambition makes him the perfect test of Caesar's policy: honor the Aedui, but never trust a man who wants a crown.
