## Who they are

Mrs. Cheyne drifts from Florida to the Adirondacks to Europe, trailing a fortune she cannot spend into happiness and a boy she cannot manage. When word arrives that Harvey has been picked up by a fishing schooner, her shriek rings through the great house and she becomes the anxious center of the family's frantic effort to reclaim him. Her helpless love for her son exposes the cost of the Cheynes' wealth long before Harvey himself understands it.
