> Lord Julian Wade in Captain Blood by Rafael Sabatini.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Julian Wade

**First appearance:** 0019-xx-thief-and-pirate

## Snapshot

A long-faced English nobleman and envoy whose cool nerve and growing admiration for Arabella complicate his mission against Blood.

## Who they are

Lord Julian moves between Colonel Bishop's bluster and Arabella's quiet grief, carrying Blood's pledged word that no harm will come to Bishop if the Arabella passes the fort. His aristocratic melancholy gives way to open disgust at the Deputy-Governor's drunken threats. As he falls for Arabella, his loyalties begin to tilt away from the crown that sent him.
