# Sir Galahad — Bulfinch’s Mythology character guide

> Sir Galahad in Bulfinch’s Mythology by Thomas Bulfinch.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Galahad, See Galahad

**First appearance:** 0002-bulfinch-s-mythology

## Snapshot

The stainless knight of the Round Table, set apart by purity for the quest that will undo his fellows.

## Who they are

Galahad arrives at Arthur's court as the knight whose sinlessness singles him out for the Holy Grail, a destiny that separates him from the flawed companions he rides beside. Where Launcelot and Tristram are tangled in love and feud, Galahad moves through the world untouched by either, and that very detachment marks him as both blessed and isolated. His presence raises the standard against which the other knights' failures are measured, giving the Grail quest its moral center.
