## Who they are

Messer Barbaresco commands the remnants of a Guelphic faction that has thrown its lot in with the Princess Valeria against the Marquis Theodore's regency. Plethoric and quick to anger when his inaction is questioned, he is nonetheless a strategist who reads ambition in others because he knows it so well in himself. Bellarion mistrusts him on sight, and the mutual wariness between them becomes a quiet contest of masks that shapes the campaign's early maneuvers.
