## Who they are

Pygmalion shares Martellus's workshop and his century, and the two of them bicker like colleagues anywhere, except that the stakes are the self-image of a species that no longer dies on schedule. He is the more pliant of the pair, more willing to make what the age asks for, and his name carries the weight of the old myth whether he wants it or not. He matters because the play needs someone inside the future's art to show that even the long-lived still disagree about beauty, purpose, and who gets to decide.
