# Mrs. Gordon — An Outback Marriage character guide

> Mrs. Gordon in An Outback Marriage by Banjo Paterson.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Dear Mrs. Gordon

**First appearance:** 0000-i-in-the-club

## Snapshot

The station matriarch who has never been snubbed in her life, and sees in Mary Grant's arrival the whole glittering world she has only read about.

## Who they are

Mrs. Gordon presides over Kuryong and the district's small society with the ease of a woman who has always been deferred to, her authority quiet and complete. Mary Grant's coming is an event bordering on the mythological for her, a door opening onto Continent and shire and Rotten Row, all the things she has known only through print. She is generous and a little dazzled, and her hospitality sets the stage where the marriage plot and the station's daily comedies unfold together.
