# Mr. Carew — An Outback Marriage character guide

> Mr. Carew in An Outback Marriage by Banjo Paterson.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Carew, Wild, The Wild Cattle Carew

**First appearance:** 0003-iv-the-old-station

## Snapshot

A weathered bushman known as Wild Cattle Carew, who can find five thousand scrub cattle but cannot outrun his own errand.

## Who they are

Carew is the man you send when the herd has vanished into brigalow and nobody else will go. He carries a private commission — tracking a Patrick Henry Considine for an English family — that he mentions only awkwardly, as if repeating a lesson. His competence in the wild and his discomfort with his own mission make him the quiet hinge on which the inheritance search turns.
