How does Albert Savarus develop the theme of Secrecy and Hidden Identity?

Albert Savarus by Honoré de Balzac develops Secrecy and Hidden Identity across the chapters the companion marks for this theme.

Mystery surrounds Albert Savarus's past and origins, and characters conceal their true motives and feelings, creating suspense and driving the narrative's intrigue about who people really are.

Savarus's underground labor and hidden motives contrast with his public disinterestedness; Amédée's secret courtship and the Préfet's covert maneuvers underscore this theme.
