## Who they are

Teucer is the loyal outsider — a bowman of mixed birth in a host of spear-nobility, whose fiercest allegiance is to the brother who never treated him as lesser. His absence during the catastrophe is his private wound; his return lands him in a raw contest with Menelaus and Agamemnon over whether Ajax's body may be buried at all. Where Ajax's tragedy is inward, Teucer's is public: he must defend a dead man's honor with nothing but argument, kinship, and nerve.
