# Henry More — A Strange Manuscript Found in a Copper Cylinder character guide

> Henry More in A Strange Manuscript Found in a Copper Cylinder by James De Mille.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** More

**First appearance:** 0001-ii-adrift-in-the-antarctic-ocean

## Snapshot

The simple-minded, emotional sailor whose manuscript is the novel itself, written in hope it might one day reach his father.

## Who they are

More is the absent narrator whose voice fills the copper cylinder, a man Oxenden defends as sincere rather than scientific. He wrote not for notoriety or statistics but out of longing for his father, which is why the account is personal, vivid, and unsystematic. His emotional motive is the reason the Kosekin world reaches us at all, and his gaps and biases shape everything the reader can and cannot know.
